  1. I signed up as well, looking forward to have some good aold transatlantic JG1 action
  2. Gentlemen, I just saw this video I found quite interesting regarding what's upcoming for IL2. Some interesting things they mentioned: Karelia map to be added Odessa map to be added Ta-152 plane Yak-3 plane New graphics (I hope performance will keep up) New damage model ... and new trees (finally! )
  3. So small update: I have indicated to Bubblegum via Steam chat that it would be best that Bubblegum join the Axis team. I propose that I will communicate the password for the ACME server via Steam chat as well. For Axis team: be aware that you will only be able to communicate via in game chat messages. Less than ideal, but it currently is the only way. Useful to know Bubblegum is very capable to fly as a wing man in a (semi) autonomous role. I'm sure Bubblegum would be capable to execute solo assignments as well.
  4. We were flying with a pilot Bubblegum on the WW server and he may be intrested in flying on ACME. As he's not on Discord, I proposed to look at the forums, hence this post. @Kliegmann can you help him should he drop by? @Bubblegum: leave a message here so for comms.
  5. Thank you so much @Etzel for recording, editing and sharing the final result with us! It's so much fun to watch back! Great mission, too bad about that sneaky AAA just south of the target, which lead to 3 arguably unnecessary losses. I very much enjoyed that you filmed my waggle after Koss had to ditch to salute the crew and to give them some encouragement for the walk back
  6. True. It's in game name not real name, of course so I estimated privacy is not really a concern. It's always possible to ask if all are ok you're recording with the possible intention to put it on YT, and probably the polite thing to do in any case.
  7. Very cool, thanks for making this, Etzel Especially that second run was so very satisfying to see! BTW, is an idea to add at the beginning of the run to have a brief shot of each participating plane with the name of the pilot? Not necessarily for this video as it's done already, but that would give an overview of all the pilots that participated, which is fun.
  8. I think that's it indeed. I just used this because I thought about using something that will hold. My grandfather was a tailor and he used the stuff for specific situations. I think it will cut your finger off before breaking when you try to break it with your hands (tried as a kid of course ). It's probably overkill, I imagine other elements will break before the thread does. I added the Sugru layer to distribute the forces and to prevent the thread from cutting into the plastic strip for that very reason.
  9. @Snaggle, I had something very similar happen to my HP Reverb G1 about 1.5 years ago I was able to repair it by drilling a hole on each side of the strip, winding a very strong thread between the holes (in Dutch "Ijzergaren" https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/IJzergaren) and covering the mended battle wound with Sugru. It has hold out completely succesfully since, and I have been using it multiple times a week since. I'll post some pictures later, but let me give you an artist's impression of the technique, hoping that it illustrates more than that it confuses: _______ _______ O=====O _______| |_______
  10. @Vonrd FYI, I upgraded to OpenKneeBoard 1.3.1 which was released this week and ran it successfully in IL2, no hiccups.
  11. Good you found out and for letting us know @Vonrd I saw your message and thought I'd check in our EU JG1 session yesterday evening to see if all was working on my side and let you know. All worked fine on my side, I do have OpenKneeboard installed BTW, though I did not use it. Did you uninstall/remove OpenKneeboard to get things working again or did you do something else? I would like to use OpenKneeboard in the future, hence my question.
  12. I finally got around to installing Opencomposite, OpenXR Toolkit and XRNecksafer this weekend which really was a breeze. Also installed the latest Nvidia drivers. For instructions I used this https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/79847-step-by-step-instructions-for-openxr-and-necksafer-for-wmr-sets/ and combined it with the recommendations for the settings in the OpenXR Toolkit and in the Nvidia drivers for Il2 from this guy who has spent quite some time optimizing OpenXR for IL2. I was absolutely blown away by the results. The visuals literally felt as if my Reverb (G1) had a significant increase in resolution, I am thoroughly impressed. @Gus I installed OpenXR toolkit 1.2, but I will update to 1.2.1 to check the CAS sharpening vs. FSR, thanks for the heads up
  13. @Etzel thank you again for posting these screenshots, I always very much enjoy being able to watch back some of the great moments of our sorties! As mentioned, this was a great evening where the team was on a roll with some very nice and effective team coordinated actions @Stahl very much agreed, the quality of the missions on the Wingwalkers server is off the charts, lots of dedication and outright talent in the mission design indeed. That's the reason why we tend to give (constructive) feedback when we observe peculiar behaviour when we play them, so that we can assist ever so slightly in their effort of realising these great and atmospheric missions.
  14. Thanks for posting these @Etzel, it is so much fun to look back at the things we did and what we encountered. Also, you make some really nice choices in what to put into pictures and how to frame the action from which angle, capturing some of the action in a dramatic(ish) shot
  15. Fellow JG1 pilots, The 10th of September I will go to the Paris Villaroche Air Legend airshow (my wife found it online and is even gracious enough to accompany me). I was wondering if other JG1 pilots are interested in this event as well and if people are interested, organise a meetup, gawk at cool planes together, have dinner or all of the above. I posted this open invitation in the EU Whatsapp group because it is most likely EU pilots would be able to join from a practical point of view, but I don't see why that would be a valid reason to restrict this invitation to EU pilots exclusively! 16. Hi Vogel, Good to hear! Welcome back, looking forward to flying with you again. Greif
  17. In a bout of nostalgia, I put these two on for some headphones-on indulging: Both albums have great openings and there are few songs I don't appreciate, which is rare I find.
  18. No matter Stahl, feel free to drop us a line if you want to fly. You're welcome to join -or invite- us anytime.
  19. Incredible find, great elaboration into detail about the subject. Thanks for sharing, I'll have a look into the rest of the series!
  20. Amazing, very well done in so many aspects. Hats off to everyone, and a special thanks for @HotleadColdfeet for making the video!
