It's a detective / political intrigue story beginning in 1929 Berlin. Anyone else watching on Netflix, or reading / have read the novels? I watch an episode late at night now and then, which is probably not wise, as it's a bit dark and disturbing sometimes. It's not a bedtime story, but that's when I have time, and now I'm hooked. From a few reviews, my impression is that the author of the novels is a stickler for historical accuracy; the TV series makers, not so much (big surprise, huh?). Cinematically, I think it's excellent. No spoilers, please, I'm just curious if you're enjoying the novel or series, if it feels as authentic to you as it does to me. If you're not fam…

Downloaded Tyne historical skin packs(except for about 4 of them wouldn't load). When I went to download the fictional, I got a message saying access denied. Anyone run into this issue before? I'll try again tomorrow. Also Klai started taking about personalized markings but didn't get to deep into it because we were signing off for the night. I wouldn't mind knowing the process I have to go through to start painting myself. Salute Ernst Kessler

Hello all, I flew on the Cuban server with a few of you last Thursday against some of the 103rd gents. It was a really good time, and it got me thinking that I should try to get a hold of some of the more active Rise of Flight groups to see what events are available. I am a member of Air Combat Group, but I have held a Friday night coop campaign for a period, but I think my guys would be more interested in flying sone events such as this rather than solely against AI. We primarily fly WWII birds, but I have a soft spot for RoF, and I am anxiously awaiting Flying Circus! I have known vaguely about your group through Barton's YouTube channel, and it's a real sha…

My faithful friend of 3 years, my Saitek Combat Pro Pedals, just died this afternoon. So...looks like I am out of action until I can repair or replace them. They have been getting a little worn over the last years. For instance, the right toe brake has been dead for some time now, so I had to map toe brakes to a hat switch in WW2 sims. I am starting to wonder if they are the culprit for my sudden joystick disconnects in flight. If one controller disconnects and then connects again, it often screws up all the rest and can only be fixed through a PC restart. This could be what was happening to me! Anyway, I'm looking at either getting these Thrustmaster pedals: …

Greetings gentlemen, this week's Sunday Vintage mission will see us in the Somme sector, late in the war. As always, air superiority is the name of the game to allow army observation aircraft to recon the front and provide intelligence and spotting to their respective forces. This map allows for both high altitude plane sets as well as limited aircraft, which must be used wisely. This "Battle for Intelligence" is pretty straight forward, first side to 100 pics wins. We will roll to another map if / after this one completes. Somme - High Recons 1918 Battle for Intelligence - September 1918 Location: Somme river, France Mission objectives: Both Allied and Central …

I watched a couple of videos on improving spotting in the 2 flight sims. What the vids said to do was to lower the gamma in both sims, one actually said to wear sunglasses (not gonna happen). I turned down the gamma to .8 in BoX and flew offline to see if there was any change. I did notice a slight improvement, but nothing really significant. Was wondering if any of you do or have tried the same thing?

Battle of St Quentin Canal - Smashing the Hindenburg line In September 1918, the Allied armies faced formible German prepared defences, known as the 'Hindenburg Line'. One of the obstacles was the St Quentin Canal. Before the big assault on the canal, Allied troops had to get a good starting position. *NOTE* - This map takes place east of the mud, after the Germans have pulled back. Therefore, there is no "mud / no man's land" to mark enemy / friendly lines visible. There is the St. Quentin Canal and a line of fortifications that are identifiable from the air, but you must check the map closely! All the objectives will take place in the 4 zones marked on the map so the…

Happy new year to you all gentlemen, This first Vintage Mission of the year will take us to the Battle of Vimy Ridge (Bloody April Revisited). There is quite an extensive mid 1917 planeset and as objectives are completed, different plane types will become available. Mission objectives will appear at the bottom of the screen every 1min and new orders issued every 40min. Once a mission objective is announced, it stays active for the duration of the mission until it is destroyed / completed. Subtitle objectives are only visible to the players on the same team. The mission will start at 1800GMT, 5:15am in game time, just before dawn. Weather report: Heavy clou…

In regard to setting gun convergence in ROF: Is bullet drop due to gravity accurately modelled in ROF? All I can find on the internet about this is guesses and anecdotal evidence, nothing from the devs. Anyone recall seeing a definitive answer from them about it? Thanks, Wilhelm

Kameraden, I think during the Christmas break I'm going to retire my Win 7 OS and do a fresh install of Win 10. Presently some of the Oculus Applications require Windows 10 and this is probably going to hold me back. I do have bigger plans with new office layout (big cleanup needed) and next generation computer being built. This will happen in the new year and will be a WIP for awhile. All that being said, VR is here to stay and although we live with some present limitations associated with the equipment but it will only get better going forward. S!

Just a reminder post that this Sunday's Vintage Mission will run at the normal time, 1800GMT but will be "mods on" for the Knights of the Sea III 1918 Event! Your game settings must be set to "modifications on" in order to see the server in the multiplayer list and you must have the two mods installed. Dropbox link to mods: Here is a dropbox link to a folder containing both mods and the JGSME.exe tool for those that don't already have it. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/y03azydb8uo1ceg/AADy_1BnUBjoLij6lkvjxBKna?dl=0 Simply download the two mods, drop them into your ROF MODS folder and activate them using JGSME. Make sure they are the ONLY two mods you have activ…

Greetings gentlemen, apologies for there being no Vintage Mission up last Sunday. Real life got in the way, and I lost my internet connection for the day. This week will bring us to the Spring Offensive or Die Kaiserschlacht (Kaiser's Battle) of March 1918. Die Kaiserschlacht- March 1918 March 29, 1918 Location: Front lines between Bapaume and Marchelepot, north of the Somme. Historical Background: The 1918 Spring Offensive or Kaiserschlacht (Kaiser's Battle), also known as the Ludendorff Offensive, was a series of German attacks along the Western Front during the First World War, beginning on 21 March 1918, which marked the deepest advances by either side sin…

Maybe you all know this already, but a brief search of the forum didn't find a discussion; and I don't know if all the technical information is correct, but it's a nicely done video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78nAd49BeVs Of particular interest is the explanation of how the carburation actually worked, starting at time 8:10. I've seen discussions elsewhere that lead nowhere, but this was a real "Ah-ha!" moment for me. The main throttle inhibits intake air pressure to less than ambient. This is how the high-compression (for the time) engine running on poor-quality (by modern standards) fuel was prevented from being damaged by knock (pre-ignition) and overheati…

Salute gentlemen, we are pleased to announce the gents at Syndicate Squadron have given us a special treat to share with the ROF community. Knights of the Sea III, featuring a 1918 plane set. This map differs somewhat from the first two Knights of the Sea events in not only the plane set, but some naval targets being moved farther SW closer to the area between Dover and Calais. This should allow for more action over the water without having to navigate extreme distances offshore with no land marks. However, for the brave there are still a few naval targets operating out to sea of Ostende Harbor and far east of Felixstowe, England. There is also the long haul Gotha ra…

Here's the youtube link. I've just listened to the first 10 min (3 hrs in length) but already came away with this... Flying Circus "should" be released in about a year. Bodenplatte will be later... sometime in 2019 . They are using "partners" in the coding (maybe some of the "Modders"?). The initial 100 x 100 map will eventually be expanded (hoping for an Italian front map). They are concentrating on late war planes because they perceive them as most popular and the best to make the initial release a success. (Can't really fault that logic but the implication is that they WILL do early planes as well). I'm sure there is more in this... like I said, this is just the 1st 1…
