Salute gentlemen! This week's Sunday Vintage Mission will see us in the skies over the Aisne region of France in May of 1918. This map puts the Central forces on the offense while Entente is tasked with defending territory. Once announced in game, subtitle objectives remain active for the duration of the mission or until they are completed. Historical Background: The Third Battle of Aisne, from 27 May-6 June 1918, comprised the final large-scale German attempt to win the war before the arrival of the U.S. Army in France, and followed the Lys Offensive in Flanders. The focus of the offensive was the Chemin des Dames Ridge, held by the Germans upon their retreat from t…

Heard the word "Abshush" (SP?) at one time or another and tried finding it on line for a definition..was about to give thinking I am misremembering the word when during an old film about the Star of Africa the piloten downs an aircraft and yells "Abshush!" the subtitles translated it as "bulls eye" but the google translate doesn't agree with the translation...long story longer...what does this word translate to? Salute! Over the last few days we've been getting some miscreants and general asshole types on our TS server making things uncomfortable for us and our friends. So to alleviate this problem we've decided to put a password back on the TS server. The password is the same one as used to join the WW Battles online server. Any clarifications on the PW please pm me. Sorry for the inconvenience but ultimately it makes things enjoyable for ourselves and our friends.

good evening jg1. I play rise of flight with jasta 10 and got a taste of ww2 birds with war thunder... but no one plays war thunder and I only like playing it in simulation battle mode. I know there's IL2 and DCS that the squadron flies. both have like a million different eras and battle packs that you can buy. I just wanna make sure if I'm buying one, I'm not stuck with a crappy map and a little put put aircraft. what's the most widely used out of the 2 or best bang for buck? thanks in advance. happy hunting SALUTE!!! This is vital for flight simming! I don't know how many times I thought I'd seen something off in the distance, only to discover it was just a dirty screen!

The Battle of Messines - June 1917 Date: June 13, 1917 Location: Front lines south of Ypres, Flanders. **NOTE** Balloons will flare on this map. Upon sighting an enemy aircraft, a balloon will fire 3 white flares at 15-20sec intervals. At 2500m the balloon will begin winching down and fire a yellow flare. At 1000m the balloon will fire a red flare to signal it is under attack. Balloons can be destroyed and will repair in 15min. Mission objectives: -Each side will have 6 primary targets to destroy, indicated by a flag on the map. Before a target becomes active, it has to be reconnoitered by making 10 photographs. For anyone still on the fence. DCS is free and comes with the Su-25T (and TF-51 I believe). Seems like a pretty good time to dip your toes in this particular pond if you haven’t already. 2.5 is beautiful to fly around in! https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/newsletters/newsletter09032018-c4ee0a9401f585b10071e59365c34dd9.html?bx_sender_conversion_id=1339498

I've posted this over at SAS forums but thought I'd try here also. I am hoping to use some of the sounds (wave files) from BOB II WoV for movie making with IL2 but have come across a minor problem. In a subfolder of the game called Samples there are tons of .wav files with various sound effects from hydraulic hissing to chairs scraping. These play on just about any media player with no problem. The other sound effects I'm really interested in however are located in the subfolders Tower0, Tower1, and Tower2 and include .wav files of WAAF ground controllers etc. I cannot get any of these .wav files to play in any of my media players and always get the following mes…

Not surprisingly, not much of a hit with the grunts I imagine. Ferd

Our shop manager is going to be at an Embraer conference all this week so I'll be covering his job as well as mine (shop foreman) so I can't guarantee that I'll be available to participate this week. So, training, Wing Walkers etc. will hopefully be covered by others if I can't make it.

St Mihiel Salient - May 1918 This week's Sunday Vintage Mission will see us in the St. Mihiel Salient area of the map in mid 1918. This map is set several months before the big St. Mihiel Offensive that started in Sept. 1918. Date: May 16, 1918 Mission Objective: Each side needs to accomplish three important objectives. The side that completes all three objectives first will win. Entente is tasked with photo recons and Central is tasked with artillery spotting. These are subtitle based recons and artillery spots so there will be no camera icon, you will be directed by subtitles on screen. Subtitles are visible to all players on your side to aid in coordinating f…

good day JG1 I tried making it to the coop last night. But I got online too late. I'm currently in the "hard look" phase of the Squadron membership and I'm looking to get time in the air with the flight wing as much as I can. If anyone is online tonight at 22:00est. I'll be in the air and wouldn't mind winging up with someone. much appreciated... SALUTE!!! happy hunting Flg. Ernst "angry goat"Kessler

I know a lot of people use response curves on the fokker dr1, but are they necessary? I've been flying the dr1 with stock settings since day 1. I just wanna know the pros and cons(if any) to adjusting the response curves. I'm stuck between taming the beast or manipulating the beast' s controls into domestication. I just don't wanna miss out on progressing my dridecker skills. thanks in advance. SALUTE!!! Flg. Ernst "angry goat" Kessler

WWI and WWII planes. Can't have a serious sim on an iPhone, but it's an amusing app if you're killing time in a waiting room. I just mention it because at the time of this post, the basic game is free (normally $1.99). The sale could end at any time. You can also command a tank or be a ground pounder.

Those of us who have flown with the Wing Walkers on Tuesday night all agree that it's a lot of fun and I encourage other BOx pilots to join in. JG1 has a long history with WW and I think it would be mutually advantageous to re-kindle that relationship. Both squads have a lot to learn from each other and both have experience with tournament play. So, join us on Tuesday night. Since this is in the public forum I'm not posting their TS addy but it can be found in Oesau here: http://forum.jg1.org/topic/5499-wing-walkers-tues/ Here's Geezer's last correspondence with me: We are running the first of what I think will be a long term campaign using PWCG ( P…
