Afternoon, all! I'm proud to finally be able to publicly release the Third Pursuit Group's NEW AND IMPROVED skin pack! Featuring a mix of 25 historical skins and the new US93 / US103 SPADs have a whole host of aesthetic improvements and are looking better than ever! The first release here will be the CORE skin-pack, which has the personal skins as well as a good chunk of the historical 103rd and 93rd aero squadron aircraft. I hope in future to release a second pack with the rest of the 103rd / 93rd, as well as the historical 28th and 213th aero squadron skins! I know I said I wasn't going to alter the "Master Packs" but I did so many changes (and I lost track of what I had done) to the FC skins that I am issuing a complete re-do here. This is ALL the JG1 FC skins to date. Added Etzel skins, updated Klai and darkened colors on almost all skins... the yellow, red and white were too bright. I may have to further adjust them but I wanted to get them out for Black September... speaking of which... Looks like lots of patches on this one including a large panel of fabric replaced on the upper wing. (and those bullet holes look uncomfortably close to the cockpit 😲). Does anyone have other pics of repaired / airworthy aircraft?

I would really appreciate whoever has the original files for Red 23 to drop a GIMP file in the thread below. Since I've just been reassigned, I've got to start my skin making over from scratch. I figure that to avoid the headache, I'll just copy my emblem onto the one I already see in the skin pack. If anybody has this in their files somewhere, I'd appreciate the digging.

I want it based of the photo in the thumbnail...BUT... ..you are free to use your own imagination too! It would also be nice if I could have the same style for the DVII and DVIIF as well Reward: 127Tom's seal of approval!

This could be a major PITA: The devs have said that texture mods will have to have their alpha channels adjusted to the new renderer, so I suspect you´ll have some adjusting to do

Being that I've pretty much finished the current JG1 skins I'm noticing that there are some members without skins... mostly because I don't have any personal graphics for those members. Loopy, Nicholas, Ewald and Von Webber come to mind. Of course, skins are not a requirement but if you want them I'm available. @Snag, do you want a CL2 with a Snagglepuss instead of the bullseye skins? @Scorched Beans, I see you have posted a graphic... if you want skins, any preference / requests? @Angry Goat - I'm assuming you will make your own... and the ones you've done look really good!

Evening Gents! As my first month with the squadron passes for me, I am starting to think about my personal colors and emblem in game. I was wondering if any of the experienced skin "makers" could help me? I'm not looking for anything too difficult (I think), simply my emblem on the tail, the fuselage, or one of the wings. I'd like to share a project I've just finished, in the hope that it might come in handy over here at the J.G.1 aerodrome. in the .Zip file below is a set of custom templates for J.G.1, marked with the correct historical Jasta markings for each unit. I've done my best to design each template to be as easy to use as possible, and have included optional 'Alternate' camo schemes / crosses / Jasta markings within each template. The most historically accurate schemes are enabled by default. Hopefully these will serve as a good 'guide' to newer recruits looking to paint up their planes in their Jasta colours, or for older hands who are looking for a new look! …

There is a lot of confusion as to which Jasta and pilot flew this plane, and there is apparently photo evidence that MvR himself may have flown it. I like this scheme and was wondering if anyone would be so generous as to put this on an Alb D.Va with my emblem on the side and a red vertical stabilizer and rudder.

I've been messing a bit with skins and these came out good enough to share I think. I miss all the squadron defaults and cool skins I had in RoF so I converted a few. I've been enjoying photoshopping screenshots.

We have been discussing 2K vs 4K skins. I had originally decided to do all skins in 2K. 2K size is approximately 1/4 the size of 4K. My reasoning is that I can't tell much (if any) difference between the two at regular view distance in the game... even when fully zoomed in. As the amount of skins increases, I was afraid that the folders would get very large. My current game skin folder is about 23 GB (with several other squads skins included). I would like to hear what others think. In that vein... we are thinking of restricting a maximum of two individual skins per pilot per plane. Again... thoughts?

I already PM'd Larner about this, but maybe somebody can get an answer for me quicker, here- Why can I not find a "wireframe" layer? Why are there no wing roundels included in the "US" markings layer? I tried poking around to see if somehow the wireframe might be hidden, but didn't find anything. The template is the current "public" template posted on the IL2 forum site.

Greetings, all! I'm very excited to share with our frenemies at J.G.1 some sneak-peeks at the upcoming skin pack for the 3rd Pursuit Group. Meticulous historical research has gone into the 3rd P.G pack in order to give it as much historical grounding as possible, down to the tiniest detail! This includes factory serial numbers, stencilling and camouflage patterns, individually painted Indian heads for the 103rd, and historically correct and unique markings for each squadron. It's gratifying to me to see that several members have taken interest in making their own skins. I am completely in support of that! For quite some time myself and Hess (and Butzzell for WWI) were the only ones who seemed to have any interest. Probably because of my enthusiasm and willingness to dive in to making JG1 skins I became the JG1 "Skin Guru". Hi, all! It seems that the JG1 ranks have been growing really nicely recently, and I've noticed a fair few new additions to the four Jastas. Great to see! Now, as brand-new Fliegers, you have one of the most exciting parts of being in a German unit awaiting you: Creating a personal skin! German pilots have the luxury of being able to paint their machines with much more expression than their Entente counterparts!
