While I'm sitting on the ground awaiting a new rig I've been puttering around with making a skin using Gimp. Being ultra-illiterate when it concerns everything computer, this hasn't been easy. I've looked around but can't find any tutorials on skinning with Gimp, only photoshop. Has anyone here come across a lesson plan for using Gimp with ROF? And regardless what you use to skin with can you tell me if I could make a pattern in MS paint and convert it for use in ROF via whatever paint program you're usin? Thanks.

I was lost, my guys were at around 2K while I was still climbing in my Alby over the mud at around 1K. I reached the cloud bottoms when I saw an SE5 below me. Apparently he hadn't seen me yet so I made a plunge for him from his rear. It was then that I noticed he was at ground level, spurting across the tree tops. My speed had made the distance close rapidly even with my throttle at zero. I aimed carefully just above his upper wing for the final few seconds as I approached, then pulled the trigger. I saw the tracers dig into his craft as he made a wild right turn. Unlucky for him, I had all ready made my right turn to regain my attitude when he was in my sights again. F…

As October moves into November and we move toward Flanders in Flames with growing excitement I am reminded, almost by the turning of the leaves of the time that occurs each year as they begin wither and fall. We take to the skies to do virtual combat seeking the glory of victory, for medals and honor, for fun because it is something we adore and are impassioned to experience. As we do though, it is always important to recall the actual combatants of the era, why they fought, what they were expected to do for "King and Country". As some of you probably gathered I am always researching, always reading, and often I feel like I am just playing catchup with all you veteran…

I'm shopping to buy one of the PC's in a box from Tiger Direct, actually they call it the barebones kit. I need to know which part of the computer contains the plug for the cable wire. Is it a card like a video or sound card or something else? I tried to get an idea of what I should be looking for by looking at my Dell, but it looks like the one on the Dell is an intrigul part of the MB, otherwise I might've tried to reuse it in the new machine. Thanks.

S! All We are uploading a new mission to the server and are having a little problem with the ini file. It might take a little while to figure this out. That is just part of the learning curve for new software and systems. Thank you. S!

S! All There is a bug fix patch for RoF. It is a very small download. The ingame updater works well. The whole thing installs in about a minute. It is mostly to help with the graphics stutters. The SE5a dives better but climbs slower and the adverse yaw on the Fokker D7s has been reduced. RE8 is the next plane. With a top speed of about 100 mph, this should be a great addition for the early plane set. Finally an Entente 2 seater that a German plane can keep up with or catch. S!

I understand a new patch came out? Or is it just rumor. Do you think this sim will have the longevity of IL2? BTW, is anyone else having problems with posting in this forum?

Last night on das Adlernest, Klaiber and I were returning from England, after chasing Spit's and Wellingtons. Almost to Calais, I spotted a single contact just off the coast, which turned out to be a Hurricane flown by a guy named, Slatz. Klaiber turned left into him to meet him low head on. I flying close echelon right, waited about 10 seconds to bracket and turned into him high. i didn't have a great shot, so I started running cover for Klaiber. The hurricane was really agile, but started to run against both of us, swapping from Klaiber, to me, to Klaiber, to me. After his energy was practically wasted, we started double attacking him. With only machine guns, …

Salute If I remember correctly JG1 was mostly a US virtual Squad. Now I read from your calander that a Jasta 6 for european pilots exists. Just wondering how many Euro pilots you have. Reason being, that I am presently looking for a online squad that speaks english. I am currently a member of J99, but after flying for/with Tangmere (Il2) I wish to continue flying in a squad that uses english. Mark (lederhosen)
