  4. Started by Priller,

You guys probably shouldn't leave the door open as vagrants like myself can just wander in. It's been quite awhile now and would expect nobody would remember my stint with the group, but for me it's very cool to see familiar faces. I hope everyone is well and had a good Christmas. Priller

  5. Started by Snaggle,

  7. Started by Baron,

Im glad, very glad, that we have own WW1 server at IL2 Great Battles game. I must say, that FC is better like old RoF for me and is really pleasure fight against Camels and Spad in Dreideckers and Pfalzes. With Pfeil we did some beautifull battles on this server - look to the pictures. Looking forward to next online battles and to incoming next planes from FC. I feeling the first FC FiF is closer and closer Very very long time i did not see so many planes in air (icons are for illustration only, picture is from track) Furious fight with a Spad (some minutes later he was shootdown by me. I really like Spad in flames ) I saw that my friend leutenant Pete…

  8. Started by Butzzell,

S! All Sale on all RoF stuff and $10 off on FC pre order. FC pre order is only 4 planes, not a full game or sim. ( Think Star Citizen but on a shorter time scale - months instead of decades.)

  9. Started by Butzzell,

S! Title says it all. Info here

  10. Started by -Hawkeye-,

I just became a member of the World War One Historical Association. What I didn't expect was their book section, which is filled with titles and subjects that are new to me. I don't think you have to be a member to purchase any of these. All I know is that many of the titles look extremely interesting and I will definitely be ordering some. EDIT: Apparently you don't purchase them directly on their site, but there is a "Goodreads" link for each one, which leads to another site where you can get them by PDF download, or links to Amazon, etc. Right now I just chose to be a member level that sends you a printed copy for USA members. In the future, I might might c…

  11. Peter Jackson recently released a new film in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of WW1 called â€They Shall Not Grow Oldâ€. For those who are interested in seeing this film on Dec. 17 or 27, you can put your city in here, and it will tell you where the nearest showing is: https://www.fathomevents.com/events/they-shall-not-grow-old Looks really good!

  12. Started in late 2015 and finished in late 2018. Our short film "Remember Me" is finally here!!! If you liked what you saw, don't forget to leave a like and share with your friends! Also, be sure to let us know what you thought in the comments on YouTube! Doing that helps our video rank higher and it also gives us useful feedback for future short films! Enjoy! :

  13. Hey guys! In 2016, my brother and I started work on a short film set during the American Civil War. Since then, we've come a long way. In 2017, we received permission to shoot our film at a local state park and began the filming process. By the end of the year, we had a first draft put together and started looking for score composers and sound designers. In 2018, we found a score composer for the opening of the film, and found a sound designer for the whole thing. Over the course of the year, we've slowly but surely been working with them. Finally, about a month ago, we sent our final draft of the film to the sound designer to work on. As things stand, we hope to hav…

  14. ***Note: Flak will run at reduced levels on this and future Syn maps. Machine gun fire is still deadly at low altitude and "archie" can still score the odd hit, but the "laser guided flak" of old is gone. Good riddance! Battle of Vendin - "Lifeline" Date: October, 1917 The German army is using canal barges to get their supplies to the lines. This makes the transfer points a priority target for the Royal Flying Corps. RFC 46 squadron, which is just converting from Pups to Camels, are ordered to attack every ship between Don and Vendin. as well as trucks just behind the lines. 59 Sqn, flying the RE.8, has been ordered to destroy the transfer points, a fuel dep…

  15. Started by Vonrd,

Here's what I'm using for anti-fog on my Rift. Simple aquarium pump... about $15 from Walmart. I didn't have any Zip-ties so just used twist ties to attach the neoprene tube to the feed wire. It's pretty low pressure and CFM but it's enough to eliminate the fogging problem that I had. I would like a bit more pressure and CFM... maybe an airbrush compressor? But this is really quiet and does the job. I can't feel the tube where it goes between the foam cushion. Crude... but it's eliminated the fogging frustration (guess I'm a sweathog ). https://www.dropbox.com/sh/7srihh84u5elb7u/AACIcSqa-TmT_8k3yBENUoBpa?dl=0

  17. Started by Vonrd,

Quote: Update 3.007 Dear friends, We just published another IL-2 Sturmovik update - 3.007. In this update we release 4 new aircraft: P-47D-28 and Bf 109 K-4 for Bodenplatte and Sopwith Camel and Pfalz D.IIIa for Flying Circus. But of course, these planes aren't the only addition - the two months weren't spent in vain and we have added numerous improvements to the sim. First, as announced before, we're adding new mission types to the Career mode. Second, there are many fixes that should make the multiplayer experience smoother. Third, important changes in the game stats adjust the kill registering logic. Fourth, the damage modeling of simple AI controlled vehicle…

  18. Greetings gentlemen! This week's Vintage Mission will take us to the 30th of November, 1917. We will go down and dirty into the mud of the trenches for close ground support with the boys in the Battle of Cambrai. BATTLE OF CAMBRAI Date: 30.11.1917 Weather conditions: TBA - will match real world weather at Cambrai, France at mission start time. Mission Duration: 9.00am-13.30pm Historical Background: The Germans reinforced Cambrai so rapidly that it became clear that it was possible to go over to the attack, the first attack made by the Germans on the Western Front since Verdun. A pincer mover was planned, with attacks from north and south driving to Metz t…

  23. Started by WWGeezer,

It was a number of years ago the I flew Flanders in Flames and Bloody April with you all as part of the Wingwalker's Squad. Some of you may remember that I started a sketchbook journal during the Bloody April tournament that I published after each mission. I used real events from the flying ( like stealing Adler's Pup by accident) and worked them into the story line. All the artwork was done on an Ipad. This experience led to a much more refined World War I project that I have worked on over the last few years. "Rupp's Skizzenbuch" is a simulation of a German Unteroffizier's journal and sketchbook from World War I. The characters and story are based on the nov…

  24. Started by Butzzell,

S! ALL Like most people I am always excited about new technology. While the excitement is great there is also attitude of pragmatism about adopting it. To paraphrase Luke Skywalker "You just can't get anything for a J7 now that that the J10s are out." Technology evolves. When do you jump in? Well in my case it is when the old technology is not just obsolete but dead and buried. Yes, I took my beloved flip phone, a present from my Uncle Mosses and traded for a smart phone. Just how smart is it? Definitely better than this old 2001 era HAL 9000 unit I have at the house. Personally I want a "phone" to be a phone. The world has changed. The device is a muti face…

I tried to insert some pictures to the post on this forum but I found the forum doesn't support new google "webP" format. Is there any work around of this issue? From whatever reason the google offers me that specific format even though I upload the pictures in jpg format.
