Well I hope we can expect to have this in our hands very soon for Cliffs of Dover! I came across this video the TF Mod posted a couple of weeks ago outlining all of the new features coming in TF 5.0. Such as graphics, North Africa, Usable vehicles, flight model, etc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJ38SWP6KWo Even though I believe some of these features are outlined from 4.0, seriously excited!

Thought this was interesting: http://foxtrotalpha.jalopnik.com/watch-an-f-16-save-the-life-of-its-unconscious-pilot-1786574961 I wasn't aware that they had installed an Automatic Ground Collision Avoidance System on the F-16. I'm sure Sully 2 is glad they did.

Today I learned that the phrase "balls to the wall" originated with fighter pilots. In WWII (and maybe earlier) some plane throttles ended in a ball shape. "Balls to the wall" was a phrase that meant pushing the throttle all the way forward, towards the firewall. You can look up the P-40's throttle as just one example of the shape. Some of you might have known this already, but I didn't!

So, I've had a lot of free time lately, and I've actually been able to do some reading. I'd like to share with you all just what I've been reading. Viper Pilot: A Memoir of Air Combat by Dan Hampton This is a pretty good book by an F-16 Viper pilot. His career spanned 20 years, the majority of the time in the F-16, and he was what is called a Wild Weasel: a SAM hunter. The book has some very exciting first person retelling of mission that he flew, mostly in Iraq, sprinkled with some not so exciting (but still somewhat interesting) details about how fighter squads are organized and ran. Of special note for me at least is that he was a member of the 77th "Gamblers" …

AAR for 1st Week of 3rd Tour Of Duty: Keeping in mind a success of Red side on battle of september and october, Blue side was going to pay back with full power, to break a combat in favor of Blues. Pause was used by both sides for gaining new pilots and resourses, and in the beginning of november, Battle raged with full scale. During the preparation phase at friday, blue side was attacking frontlines depots in sector B and C and, despite losses to enemy fighters, gained limited success. In the same time, Red side made same attacks. First wave of 9 Pe-2's wiped-out Blue warehouses in sector C, destroying 5 of 6 hangars. But the second attack of 5 Pe-2's on warehouses…

Hello everyone, both JG1 and non alike. I have a Steam key for Command: Northern Inferno to give away to anyone who wants it. This is the standalone campaign for Command: Modern Air/Naval Operations, a hyper-realistic strategic game played from the perspective of the overall operations commander, and it is the spiritual successor to the Harpoon series of old. For more information see the Steam page here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/397180/ If you're interested, just respond with your Steam name and it's yours!

Hi all, Wanted to announce the formation of the VonRD Butzzell power company. We plan to replace fossil fuel electric power generation with small local geothermal plants. Small size means easier to site, build and maintain. Smaller also means it is less likely to be a target for terrorists. Smaller means if any one goes down, the rest will have the capacity to meet the load. Basic plan is to build 100 units per year for 10 years. After the first 5 years we will have enough revenue to meet the working cash requirements. After 11 years we should be able to start paying dividends at $0.10 per share and have the funds for sustained expansion. Estimated start …

Hi All, This is a question for both guests and JG1 members alike! What operating system are you currently using? And how many people plan on switching to Windows 10? And for those who have Windows 10, does it work reliably with your current flight sims? The reason I'm asking this has to do with compatibility issues. The main games that we're flying right now are Rise of Flight, IL-2: Cliffs of Dover, IL-2: Battle of Stalingrad / Moscow, and DCS World.

So I just got VoiceAttack and am pairing it with VAICOM for DCS. I'm just curious if anyone has experience with them? It seems like it will be good for immersion. I'm also going to be using it with ARMA. I watched. I've watched a few videos of people using voice commands in it and it seems like it'll make things a lot easier!

Through the 4th, they are offering 50% off of Battle of Stalingrad. A good deal if you've been on the fence and wanted to try it out. If they had dropped BoM, as well, I would have picked it up.
