Kameraden, Flew from Toronto (YYZ) to Ottawa (YOW) today, arrived to a brutal winter storm and it was below Air Canada minimums. So we flew around for awhile and it did not improve, flew back to YYZ from YOW which was the alternate. Landed back in YYZ and they handed us boarding passes for a 787-9 flying back to Ottawa. Got back on the plane, flew back and the sun was out. I've had canceled flights before, but never had unable to land due to weather. Plus side was I got to fly back and forth most of the day on one ticket. S!

JG1 was founded in March 1992, as I understand it, about a month after the Wing Walkers. https://jg1.org/richthofen/history/ This means that both squadrons are turning 30 this year! We're looking to do something special for both groups, most visibly within Flying Circus, IL-2: Great Battles, and DCS World. We also want to reconnect with people! If you are a former member of JG1 or the Wing Walkers or just someone from the "old days" who flew with/against us, post below and let us know you're around. As more details are published about planned events, we'll make sure you're kept in the loop. Also, if anyone has any ideas about what type of ev…

Never worry about data lose again. If you are looking for a great program to use to backup your PC?? I have been using Backblaze for 5+ years and find it to be the perfect program to backup my PCs. One thing we all learn at one time or another, hard drives crash and we loose data. We over write a file by mistake.... This program makes it easy to recover the drive or files.... Use this link: https://secure.backblaze.com/r/013c2f and give it a try. Sorry for the ad, but thought it might help. Snaggle

https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/40620/a-10-warthog-pilots-are-using-the-digital-combat-simulator-video-game-to-train-in-vr Thought this was interesting. Especially for those of us who fly DCS. Here is an attached video, so we can check out the Air Force's sweet rigs.

I was wondering what this was about... I'm hoping that they don't permanently go back to the high vis nav lights and tracers that can be seen from super long distances: Our team have prepared a big patch for the 4.702 update in a very short time after the New Year holidays. The list below shows how we value your reports and your playing experience. IL-2 Sturmovik team continues to improve and expand our projects. 4.702c changelist: P-51B-5: Installing Malcolm Hood canopy results in correct view limits; The red line with technical inscriptions is left on the left side of P-51B-5 skins only; The Royal Air Force P-51B-5 paint schemes have a gray…

Today I was going through pictures from the past with my mother. She came up with this one: Encircled: my mother, her mother and siblings next to her. On the back of the picture was written: "Plane crash Groenlo, august 1933" (translated). I couldn't find details of the crash yet. I think this is a Fokker C.VI from the LVA (predecessor of the Dutch Air Force). The LVA had bought 31 of this type. The designation C.VI is used by LVA for the lighter version of the C.V-D. The deliveries will take place from 1925 with registration 590 to 608. Furthermore in 1926 the 609 to 615 and in 1928 the 616 to the 620. All supplied with the lighter Hispano-S…

Posted 7 hours ago Update 4.702 Dear Friends, We're glad to report that the work on 4.702 update is finished and it is released. It doesn't contain as many changes as the previous one, but it does bring the long-awaited P-51B-5 fighter for the Battle of Normandy! It took a very long time, but there were some reasons for this - namely the long list of its modifications. It has three different gunsights(!), two canopies - standard and Malcolm Hood where the moving part of the canopy is a single spherical shaped piece of plexiglass. This aircraft is also the first to have …

Hi chaps... Firstly, sorry about my radio silence over the past several months. COVID aside, it's been a bit of a tricky year for me professionally and personally juggling full time work with a full time degree and everything else life likes to throw at us for giggles. I'm off work for a little over a week after being signed off and attempting to sort myself out and start enjoying things again and generally get my mind in a better place. On that note, I've not flown for months but was thinking of popping on for a bit of IL-2 now the Hawker Typhoon and MkXIV Spits are here. I don't know exactly when I'll be on, but I'll throw a message on the JG.1 Discord when I do. …

Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems that there is no way to adjust the gun convergence on any module in DCS. This seems like a major faux paux for a sim that prides itself in realism. Very disappointing. CLOD was (is) the best at it but even BOx has some adjustment. Is there anything in the lua's to adjust? Does anyone know what the default convergence is for each plane? I noticed this when practicing the Dora gunnery. It seems to be set pretty far... maybe 800 to 1000 meters?

This is awesome. Too bad it's a homebuild and not commercial. Here's the thread on DCS: https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/159229-my-new-cyclic-build-with-magnetic-brake-trim/#comment-3203979 and here https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/224232-mi-24-sim-pit-by-molevich/?tab=comments#comment-224822
