  2. Hi Guys I fly in May with my wife for the first time across the pond and we will visit Vancouver Canada for 10 days. So I thought I ask here if you have any tips what to visit or any secret sights I shoud not miss in the city or in the area. After those 10 days we go on a ship cruise up north to Alaska (only it's southren part) so it will be my first visit to US too. We have a quite full program there but if you have any tips for Juneau, Sitka, Ketchikan, Skagway I'm sure they would be usefull too. Thanks

For those who may not have seen anything like this before, this is a great video, although very long. It has everything! LOTS of history, detailed explanations, excellent animation, field demonstration, slow motion. I looked this up because I wasn't quite sure exactly how the Lewis drum actually worked and fed rounds into the gun, and man did I learn a lot.

Out of nowhere! https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/modules/i-16/ Looks like it could be a ton of fun, though a bit out of place (even in the WW2 stable). Here are the discussions: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=133052 https://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=340 Is anyone thinking of picking it up?

  7. Started by Archibald,

I have a few bucks and now that it's on sale, I'd like to pick up Battle of Stalingrad and give it a go. If my budget is about 30 bucks, should I pick up the special edition? Or, should I get the baseline game and maybe go for one of the add-ons? Your thoughts?

Enjoy!

I was so excited about the last iteration of FiF, particularly the early war setup, that I've shall build this: It's Eduard's 1/48 model. Each square on the cutting board represents 1 square centimeter. Thanks Butzzell, Luftritter and others for three months full of excitement of building this model (since you are responsible for it indirectly ) as well as for FiF

For the modelers among you, WNW has a nice offer on their products. The link to the discount shop is here: https://shop.wingnutwings.com/ If that doesn't work this is the one they sent me as a subscriber: https://wingnutwings.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=44e6bd6923ec562973b9b0998&id=08417f6b1f&e=24dd31afc9 NB This is not a 1st April joke (well they took my money ) Edit: The postal costs etc were US $24. I only wanted to buy the Red Baron Alb V ($69), shops in the Netherlands Belgium and Germany sell this kit for around US $100/€89, but it's always in back order. Besides that, the Alb V is sold out in total.

  20. Started by Heinrich,

I visit this site every day: http://ww2today.com/ For me always interesting, sometimes with subjects I never heard of, some horrible and often sad stories of men and women trying to do their task or even beyond that. Although we are just sim pilots I have compassion with especially the pilots reading their stories, no matter if he's flying a B-17, Mosquito or Bf-109. By reading it every day you see the war developing. For instance I never saw the relation between the events leading to D-Day, I get the impression (which will never be confirmed) that the 24/7 bombing had an extra purposes: to provoke German leadership in reviving the bombing campaign on Britain and …

  21. S! All I tried doing our usual multiplayer coop for career night in FC. I had not fully tested it and it was a huge flop. We did learn something important. Many mission designers add sounds and pictures. These go in a folder called "externalmedia". The stock BoX game does not have this folder. You may have problems or lock ups unless you have this folder. The pathway is data/ swf/ externalmedia

Baumer has posted a poll here: https://riseofflight.com/forum/topic/53918-bloody-april-ix-campaign-community-poll/ "Harsher death penalties are back. 1 hour death enforced by the server settings, although you may serve as a backseat gunner during the downtime. The open campaign schedule makes this less impactful and gives pilots more opportunities overall to get in the air." Still... not a true DID so "no awards for You!"

I wrote all this in the main IL2 forums and then thought, hey, maybe JG1 knows more about it, or at least we can have a more concentrated discussion without some of the...more "interesting" members of the IL2 forums. I'll be honest, one of the main factors why I haven't been playing Multiplayer IL2 is that not understanding the Engine Timers fully feels...wrong. What pilot would go into combat not understanding "hidden" design features in his aircraft? Why isn't the mechanic at least in some way tied to in-plane instruments? I feel like the only thing worse than this whole engine-timer-balance system is that we (or I) don't have enough information. If they a…
