Hey gang, I mentioned this tonight and wanted to share with the rest: https://matricapp.com Allows you to build a virtual button box with a tablet or phone. Native to Android but they just released support for iOS devices. Great for when you run out of bindings.

I have a friend who is thinking about buying a curved monitor. They want to wall mount it and have questions that I can't answer. Here is their message to me, as well as a picture of their VESA mount. Let me know your thoughts. And thanks in advance!

I posted this on the IL2 forum: Time for a new PC. I have a budget of about $3000 but can go up a bit if necessary. I've been doing numerous Partpicker build examples and also looking at pre-builds. My head is swimming. I built my last PC and would have no issue building this one but it seems that pre-builds might be a better deal initially. It seems that there are lots of companies out there. Does anyone have recommendations for reputable builders? Also, I'm wondering about the 7900XTX coming out in Dec. I've always had Nvidia but they seem to be overpricing everything at this point (not to mention the melting connector fiasco... yeah, probably us…

I just bought a DAC and have been reading about it and the myriad of uses it is capable of and saw a small bit of info regarding this between your computer and your speakers for game sound improvement. Is anyone using one of these? I got it for streaming music from the net to my reel-to-reel recording, but it might be fun to give it a try on the game side of things.

After talking to some of the NA pilots last night I realized that some of them were unaware that there is an Opencomposite (OpenXR) Launcher/Runtime Switcher. It will allow you to quickly swap between openXR and SteamVR, should you wish to do so. I have some vr games and applications that aren't compatible with OpenXR, so I actually tend to use it frequently. A bonus feature is that it will check for updates to OpenComposite and allow you to update with a single button click. The direct link is: https://znix.xyz/OpenComposite/runtimeswitcher.php?branch=openxr I understand that it looks like a shady link, however it comes from the OpenXR-Toolkit github pag…

I'm still struggling to get DCS to work and think this may be the issue (Changelog from Friday): OpenXR is removed from autosearch. DCS has a chain of VR vendors in priority oculus, OpenVR, Varjo, etc. OpenXR was in that chain in top priority, now it is removed from this chain and only available when you explicitly specify it in command line of DCS. From this thread and regarding changing shortcut properties: https://forum.dcs.world/topic/296983-open-composite-openxr-toolkit-tuning-guide-updated-091022/page/26/ Although you don't technically ð I just have the use VR headset box checked in options. I changed the…

A number of fliers have expressed problems with joystick and controller IDs being changed by software or OS updates. There is a handy utility for assigning a specific ID # to each USB based controller. It's called PJP's JoyIDs at http://pjp-s-joyids.software.informer.com/versions/ My apologies -- I do not recommend the link above! It's a very confusing download site and essentially wants your email address to put on their advertising list. There are multiple links that seem to offer a download of JoyIDs but get you nowhere - just more links to other software they are hawking. Most annoying! That wasn't my experience when I downloaded the JoyIDs executable…

From Blackpoint Cyber Security (partner): Blackpoint Cyber is actively monitoring malicious Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) Studio being delivered through paid sponsored links. The use of sponsored links to distribute malware is another iteration in the continual attempts to compromise devices. The security community is discussing the most recent distribution of fake OBS software as a means of infecting victims, and we wanted to share some details that we have not seen published yet. The initial stage of the installation will use cURL to obtain country, IP, and city details from IPiNfo.io as three separate communications. Once this is acquired, the infor…

Went to play in VR today and my openXR says âXrResult failure (XR_ERROR_RUNTIME_FAILURE) Origin: xrcreateinstance(&createinfo, instance.put) Iâve tried rebooting and uninstalling openxr. Never had this issue before, any ideas? On Reddit, someone said: "Have you just installed the NIS (Nvidea Image Scaling) mod? I have the same issue straight after installing NIS, and when I uninstalled NIS, all good again." I don't have NIS activated in either NVidia Control Panel or NVidia GeForce Experience. Anyone have any idea what's causing this?

Kameraden, Been having issues with the helicopters in DCS. My Thrustmaster T.Flight Rudder Pedals were sticking in the centre position and it was causing me all sorts of grief during landings. One of my restrictions, is my GT Track frame has limited width (which is why I'm not using my MFG Crosswinds). Looked at the Virpil pedals, but they were out of stock. So I settled on the VKB T-Rudder MkIV, all metal and very precise. I do however consider them entry level, no toe brakes and light. But fairly inexpensive. First flight was very good and I've solved my problem, will be concentrating on various choppers over the next while. S!

I posted this in the TS forum: Just installed TS3 on a new build (TS3 has worked fine on my old build). When I try to set the PTT hotkey from my HOTAS, it recognizes it but when I hit Enter (or left mouse) to save it it always adds +enter (or +left mouse button) to the selection. Any suggestions? Can hotkeys be manually edited in one of the files? If so, where and which file. There were similar posts going way back through 2020. This was the general response from TS: TS.ChrisRTeamSpeak Staff Feb '20 Joystick and Gamepad support is not included yet. We are working on that. I have no Idea why it was working fine on the old machine. …

For those who asked, Here are my settings for VR. As i've mentioned before it does look like a 90s game, but Generally i can hold down a smooth 30-45 FPS. I'm running open XR, with an acer AH101 (windows mixed reality). Ryzen 5 5600x, 32g of DDR 4 @ 3300, and an RTX 2070, my windows drive is on an m2, my DCS is on a raid 0 sata 3 SSD array, and I have a dedicated ssd on sata 3 just for my page file set at 64g. The goal of this setup was to have separation of windows files, page file for memory swapping, and DCS all acessing different drives and not conflicting on drive bandwidth.

In advanced: I donÂīt to want to play the "VR-Guru", but this OpenXR mod is a really good thing for Windows Mixed Reality headsets like the Reverb G2, G1, Samsung Odyssey and probably the first generation ( 1440 x 1440 ) of VR headsets. The point of this mod is, that DCS World and IL-2 Great Battles donÂīt support OpenXR natively, their VR API is natively OpenVR, which runs by SteamVR. But you could use a Windows Mixed Reality headset, like the above mentioned, through ÂīWindowsMixedReality for SteamVRÂī, which is kind of workaround made by Valve ( Steam ) in order to enable owners of WMR headsets to play OpenVR games. The only game I know with native OpenXR support…

Forcing DirectX 11 in Steam VR has helped my VR performance and clarity tremendously in both DCS and IL-2. Instantly got about 15-20 FPS increase and was able to turn off motion reprojection and also increase the resolution. Using Reverb G2 with 2080TI. I'm now getting consistently about 50-60 FPS, no stutters. In IL2 I have MSAA at 4 with everything else pretty much maxed out. Still playing around with DCS but this definitely increased performance dramatically there too. It is a setting in the VR Dashboard, not in the Windows Desktop Steam VR settings. Have to get to it using your VR controllers. For me pressing up or down on controller thumbstick while stea…

I hate to ask because I am pretty sure I am not going to like the answer... but trying to bring IL-2 back to life.... it loaded about 60% and stopped... now it does nothing. I have always been really fortunate with this program I have not had the problems I read about. Well.. I guess I am in the hopper now. Any suggestions on how to get this thing to complete loading what ever it is loading??? Thanks,
